SINCE YOU'VE GONE
Released April 16, 1965
Manston
Ooooo, my tears came tumblin' down
Ooooo, my tears came tumblin' down since you've gone
And your memory lingers on
Ooooo, like raindrops from the sky
Ooooo, my heart just wants to die since you've gone
And your memory lingers on
Who'd think a love like ours could part?
And leave behind a broken heart that pines for you?
Ooooo, strike down like falling rain
Ooooo, a kiss won't be the same since you've been gone
And your memory lingers on
Ooooo, a mighty, broken man
Ooooo, I do the best I can since you've been gone
And your memory lingers on
Yes, your memory lingers on
Yes, your memory lingers on
Yes, your memory lingers on

JUST AS LONG (Side B)
Released April 16, 1965
Manston
Sha La la la la la la la la la
Sha La la la la la la la la la
What should it matter
If your world is looking blue?
It doesn't matter, not at all
Remember, just as long as you've got someone
By your side
You're holding a miracle come true
Remember, just as long as your baby loves you
Just as long as your baby loves you
And when you're tired
And the days seem gloom to you
And all the sad things come in view
Remember, just as long as someone's standing
By your side
You're holding a miracle come true
Remember, just as long as your baby loves you
Just as long as your baby loves you
So stay by him
And love him all the time
When things look grim
Just hold your love to you
And the sun will come shining through
And when you're tired
And the days seem gloom to you
And all the sad things come in view
Remember, just as long as someone's standing
By your side
You're holding a miracle come true
Remember, just as long as your baby loves you
Just as long as your baby loves you
When she loves you
I'll always love you
Everything so much, baby

I CRIED
Released September 10, 1965
Manston
Well I just got your letter this morning
And you know, when I picked up the letter
I was wondering just what I'd find
Now the letter you sent is lying right here before me
And baby, I know
I know now what's on your mind
I tell you how I cried
I tell you I almost died
Let me tell you how I cried
Well it's hard to believe what was written in that letter
I thought I really understood and knew you
But I didn't
All my hopes and my dreams have vanished
Everything I had
And my mind is going crazy
I tell you how I cried
I tell you I almost died
Let me tell you how I cried
Oh, what a fool chosen to love
Only in love with you
Wasn't so hard to do
But now I'm without
Tell me how to pull out
So I'm writing to tell you just what my feelings are
And just to say a sad goodbye to you
'Cause I want you to know
How it feels to have no tomorrow
To have nothing at all
When the one you love is untrue
I tell you how I cried
I tell you I almost died
Let me tell you how I cried
Cried
Let me tell you, baby...

Well, who's that up yonder
Standing at my front door
Well, who's that up yonder

Well, I don't want you no more
Well who's that behind you?
Move away I want to see
Well who's that behind you?
I said what do you want with me?
Well, My name's Sam I'm the window man

And some I don't even know
But I don't want them hanging round
So a'telling me gotta go
Well, who's that up yonder?
Standing at my front of my door
Well, who's that up yonder?
'Cause I can't take much more

I have never heard of the songwriter "Manston", but I know
that Marty Wilde was a songwriter as well as a singer in his own right. I wondered
why neither Hayward nor Wilde had written the songs that Hayward first recorded.
Hayward may have been a bit young and inexperienced but Wilde could have done this.
I have never seen any information about this "Manston" in connection with the Moody Blues.
I did a search for the Manston-Wilde connection, and I came up with another group:
Status Quo. This English group has been around for about 35 years like the Moody
Blues. I visited their official website,
and their fans describe this group as "pure Rock-n-Roll". Much to my surprise,
Manston and Wilde are co-songwriters on songs for this group (though they wrote
with others, not with each other). I may have to do more research to find out
about this strange connection...Strange Times, indeed!!
More news! It appears that Manston is a pseudonym for Marty Wilde!! In a biography for
the group
The Bystanders, the article indicates that Manston was a pseudonym used.

LONDON IS BEHIND ME
Released Dec 31, 1965
Justin Hayward
London is behind me and I'm stuck out on the motor way
Two lifts this morning they were both going my way
I don't care if the sun never shines
I've got love and where she is you will find me
I'm on my way to see her after two weeks in the city
I rung her up this morning I said expect me when you see me
I don't care if the sun never shines
I've got love and where she is you will find me
I know by twelve o'clock I'll be there
I know she's waiting for me there
Come what may
Hey hey
My car's all laid up and I can't afford the train fare
All I've got's a quid so I'll save it till I get there
I don't care if the sun never shines
I've got love and where she is you will find me
I'll be there soon, so rain for all I care
I'll be there soon, if I have to walk there
All the way
Hey hey
London is behind me and I'm stuck out on the motor way
Two lifts this morning they were both going my way
I don't care if the sun never shines
I've got love and where she is you will find me
I've got love and where she is you will find me

DAY MUST COME (Side B)
Released Dec 31, 1965
Justin Hayward
Darkness all around me now
Haunting memories of how
You and I have loved but now
It's over
Alone at night without you near
I can see you, oh so clear
Did you have to leave me here
To remember
Day must come
And I'll forget you
Until the night falls again
Day must come
Please make it soon
I lie awake
Tomorrow's life
Hides thoughts of you
Till the night breaks
Four o'clock and all's not well
With me I'm just an empty shell
Life without you is just hell
Believe me
I close my eyes and you appear
Your memory still lingers here
The reason why you left's unclear
Why did you?
Day must come
And I'll forget you
Until the night falls again
Day must come
Please make it soon
I lie awake
Tomorrow's life
Hides thoughts of you
Till the night breaks
Darkness all around me now
Haunting memories of how
You and I have loved but now
It's over
Alone at night without you near
I can see you, oh so clear
Did you have to leave me here
To remember
Day must come
And I'll forget you
Until the night falls again

I CAN'T FACE THE WORLD
Released August 26, 1966
Justin Hayward
Girl, I saw you dancing last night with a new guy
He was holding you so tight I saw him go by
Please...don't say that it's all over
Please, I can't face the world without you
I just can't believe that I can see love dying
My whole life is fading, slipping, stumbling, sighing
Please...don't say that it's all over
Please, I can't face the world without you
Stay, I can't face the night without you near
Stay and you'll see I'm right about you girl
Girl, I saw you dancing last night with a new guy
He was holding you so tight I saw him go by
Please...don't say that it's all over
Please, I can't face the world without you

I'LL BE HERE TOMORROW (Side B)
Released August 26, 1966
Justin Hayward
Summer's gone and winter's here
That's how it is with you my dear
You're trouble and change your love
As though it's just a question of the time it takes
His heart to break
But now it's yours
I've seen it all so many times
The formula's the same
And mine's the shoulder that you cry on
I'm the one you can rely on
Who is here
To hold you near
When love goes wrong
Though today's been drowned in sorrow
I'll be here with you tomorrow
Don't get me wrong
I understand
The way you feel about a man
But he walked out with someone new
And that leaves only you
To feel the pain
But I remain
To see you through
When you come to me
Sometimes you laugh
Sometimes you cry
You tell me
Woman, can't you see
The one that loves you looks like me
So dry your eyes
And realise
It's you and me
Though today's been drowned in sorrow
I'll be here with you tomorrow
I'll be here with you tomorrow
Yes I will
I'll be here with you tomorrow
I'll be here with you tomorrow

FOREVER TO BE ALONE
NEVER RELEASED (See Notes)
Justin Hayward
Monday, the greyness of mourning upon you
A part of your life taken from you
Just for a while
Oh oh oh oh....
Quietly waiting for someone who'll know why
The price of an hour of love's so high
Oh, I do
Whoa-ooh...forever to be alone
Where is the Eden that you've dreamed of?
How many thoughts have you denied?
Then you can say that you are lonely
Whoa-oh...forever to be alone
You'll know how many times I have wondered
Watching my soul drifting under
Oh, I do
Oh oh oh oh love you only as much as I can do
The feeling's too strong now to undo
Please, never try
Whoa-oh...lover please hurry home.
Where is the Eden that you've dreamed of?
Try to believe it's all come true
Then you can say that you're in love
Whoa-oh...

This song was never recorded except as a demo tape. In the mid 1970's Mr. Hayward was working on this song (probably to be included on his first solo album, "Songwriter") but the tape was stolen from him before he was finished. As this was the only copy, he did not complete the work. Some of the words were incorporated into "Songwriter Part I" from that album.
In the past I have not included this work because it taken from Mr. Hayward without permission. He has not approved of the production or received any monetary compensation from it. However, the song is known to Justin Hayward fans. In my effort to be complete, I have changed my mind and am including the words because is it is a known work. My apologies to Mr. Hayward, and if requested, I will remove these words.

UNEXPECTED SONG
Justin Hayward with Marti Webb
Composer: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Lyrics: Don Black
From the musical "Tell Me On A Sunday" (1980)
I have never felt like this
For once I'm lost for words
Your smile has really thrown me
This is not like me at all
You don't know what you've done
I'm like I've never known me
Now, no matter where I am
No matter what I do
I see your face appearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing
I don't know what's going on
Can't work it out at all
Whatever made you choose me?
I just can't believe my eyes
You look at me as though
You couldn't bear to lose me
Now, no matter where I am
No matter what I do
I see your face appearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing
I have never felt like this
For once I'm lost for words
Your smile has really thrown me
This is not like me at all
You don't know what you've done
I'm like I've never known me
Now, no matter where I am
No matter what I do
I see your face appearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing
Like an unexpected song
An unexpected song
That only we are hearing

MORNING ANGEL
Justin Hayward with Nana Mouskouri (1988)
T. Visconti, K. Coe
From the album "Nana"
Morning angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right
Morning angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right
Just love the night
Just another night
And when the sunrise sets the sky on fire
And dedicates this day to you, love
You'll touch my soul and take my spirit higher
I'm falling
I'm calling
My angel
Morning angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you tht it's all right
Morning Angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right
Just love the night
Just another night
Your restless spirit fills me with devotion
With every breath I want to hold on
Your very touch is such a contribution
I'm falling
I'm calling
My angel
Morning Angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right
Morning Angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right
Just love the night
Just another night
Morning Angel let me sing in your light
Let me hold you
Let me tell you that it's all right

THE ANGELS CRY
Justin Hayward with Annie Haslam (1989)
Justin Hayward
I always knew we were meant to be lovers
I always knew we were made for each other
I always knew there was no one else
Could make me feel this way
But when you go away
The angels cry each time we say goodbye
The angels cry each time we say goodbye
The summer sun always shines when you're with me
I feel its warmth in the love that you give me
I feel your touch and I know that's where
I always want to stay
But when you go away
The angels cry each time we say goodbye
The angels cry each time we say goodbye
When we're apart, the rain, it falls
The wind, it calls for you my love
Right from the start, when our love was young
The rising sun, the only one was you my love
I always knew we were meant to be lovers
I always knew we were made for each other
I always knew there was no one else
Could make me feel this way
But when you go away
The angels cry each time we say goodbye
The angels cry each time we say goodbye

LET IT BEGIN
Justin Hayward with Sally Oldfield (1989)
From the album "Instincts"
Music: Ramesh B. Weeratunga & M. Härtl
Lyrics: Ramesh B. Weeratunga & R. de Bastion
Dreaming a daydream
When will it all come true?
Still the world keeps turning
Longing for the truth
Letters keep returning
Still unopened
I have a vision
Soon it'll all come true
I speak with my emotions
Positive they are
Though the tears are raining
I see sunshine
I see sunshine
Let it begin to change
What have we lost by losing
Ohhh let it begin to change
Are we lost by losing
By cheating, and lying, ohhhh
Acres of plenty
Far as the eye can see
No one growing hungry
Voices raised in song
Joining in the beauty everlasting
Everlasting
Let it begin to change
What have we lost by losing?
Ohhh let it begin to change
Are we lost by losing?
Let it begin to change
It won't be long now
Before we can live as one
Let it begin to change
What have we lost by losing?
Ohhh, let it begin to change
Are we lost by losing?
Let it begin to change
What have we lost by losing?
Ohhh let it begin to change

NOTTE DI LUCE
(NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN)
From the album "Sometimes I Dream" (2002)
Mario Frangoulis with Justin Hayward
Words and music by Justin Hayward
Notte di luce
Una notte infinita
Una lettera che
Non sara mai spedita
Cos'e la realta
Io non lo so piu
Ad occhi aperti
Il mio sogno sei tu
Io ti amo
Si, ti amo
Quanto ti amo
Guardo la gente
Mano per mano
Nessuno capisce
Quello che provo
Respiro il silenzio
Dei tuoi pensieri
Un giorno sarai
Tutto quello che speri
Io ti amo
Si, ti amo
Quanto ti amo
Quanto ti amo
Nights in white satin
Never reaching the end
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send
And I love you
(Io ti amo )
Yes, I love you
(Si, ti amo )
Oh, how I love you
(Nights in white satin )
Yes, I love you
(Never reaching the end )
Oh, how I love you
(Nights in white satin )
Oh, how I love you
Oh, how I love you

DAWN OF A NEW DAY
From the Album "The Eye of Wendor" (1978)
Album by Mandalaband
Come walk with me one last time
Through ages past of man's golden greatness
Now all remains is decay
Crumbling ruin, heartache and pain
Stayed far too long in this place
Where no one can be free from grief and sadness
What will be is now clear to me
There's never need for sorrow
And tears lost in anguish
The scars of the past will surely heal
For destiny calls us across new horizons
We'll cast our hopes over the sea
In search of a world of richness so beautiful
So beautiful, so beautiful
Let the waters of life wash all the pain and hardship behind us
We'll set sail for the sun
With every new day the darkness will fade
Freedom awaits with the dawn
For tomorrow will find us on our way
On our way...

TREGARDOCK
From the Album "Poetry in Motion" (1990)
Vocals by Justin Hayward
A mist that from the moor arose
In sea fog wraps Port Isaac Bay
The moan of warning from Trevose
Makes grimmer this October day
Tregardock
Tregardock
Tregardock
Only the shore and cliffs are clear
Gigantic slithering shelves of slate
In waiting awfulness appear
Like journalism full of hate
Whoa oh oh...
On the steep path a bramble leaf
Stands motionless and wet with dew
The grass bends down the bracken's brown
The grey-green gorse alone is new
Whoa oh oh...
Cautious my sliding footsteps go
To quarried rock and dripping cave
The ocean leaden still below
Has hardly strength to lift a wave
Tregardock
Tregardock
Tregardock
I watch it crisp into its height
And flap exhausted on the beach
The long surf menacing and white
Hissing as far as it can reach
Whoa oh oh...
The dunlin do not move
Each bird is stationary on the sand
As if a spirit in it heard
The final end of sea and land
Whoa oh oh...
And I on my volcano edge
Exposed to ridicule and hate
Still do not dare to leap the ledge
And smash to pieces on the slate
Tregardock
Tregardock
Tregardock
A mist that from the moor arose
In sea fog wraps Port Isaac Bay
The moan of warning from Trevose
Makes grimmer this October day
Grimmer this October day
Grimmer this October day
It's grimmer this October day
Grimmer this October day

FOREVER AUTUMN
From the album "The War Of The Worlds" (1978)
Written by Paul Vigrass, Gary Osborne and Jeff Wayne
The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here
I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear.
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here
Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...
Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year.
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here
Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away...
A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My life will be forever autumn
'Cause you're not here

FALLING FOR NIGHT LIFE
From the single
"Falling for Night Life" by The Explorers (1984)
Written by Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay
Oh, oh
Nightlife
Nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
You saw the streets
And now the tiger sets you for your prey
Every trick of lava
It goes in the games that you play
You've been ?? (making?) tracks
I follow your trail
Of your tail
Oh, oh
Falling for night life
Falling for night life
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Falling for night life
Falling for night life
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Night moves I love it with techia
You never come home with him anymore
Ready to attack
He can see where you should be
Right behind my back
Fooling around, everbound
Oh, oh
Nightlife
Nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Nightlife
Nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Here is the sound of the tiger
All the rage of the tiger
Are now in the ?? of the boat
Here is the sound of the tiger
Tight...
Falling for the night
Sneaking in the shadows of love
Staying out of sight
You can rest if you're so tight
You were born
Falling for nightlife
Falling for nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Falling for nightlife
Falling for nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Falling for nightlife
Falling for nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Falling for nightlife
Falling for nightlife
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Oh, oh
Falling for nightlife....

STILL WATERS RUN DEEP
From "Return to the Centre of the Earth" (1997)
By Rick Wakeman
Vocals by Justin Hayward
Someone cries but there's no one to hear
No more time in an endless day
No place to hide as the secrets unfold
No more time left to fade away
My life gone from view
Without love
Without you
Close your eyes for there's nothing to see
Only dreams hiding far away
No tears to cry now I'm left all alone
Only seems like another day
No one can hear me, a cry everlasting
Bridges of time hidden deep within earth
Not in this life is complete understanding
A feeling of hope and of peace within earth
Still waters run
Still waters run
Still waters run deep
Waiting alone there is no peace of mind
Only fear of another day
Lost in eternity no end in sight
Only dreams of another way
Look and hear me, a cry everlasting
A feeling of hope and of peace on this earth
Still waters run
Still waters run
Still waters run deep
A feeling of hope and of peace on this earth...
Still waters run
Still waters run
Still waters run deep
Still waters run
Still waters run
Still waters run deep

NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN
From "Philharmania" (1998)
Arranged and produced by Mike Batt
Written and sung by Justin Hayward
Nights in white satin
Never reaching the end
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed
With these eyes before
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you
Yes I love you
Oh how I love you
Gazing at people
Some hand in hand
Just what I'm going through
They can understand
Some try to tell me
Thoughts they cannot defend
Just what you want to be
You will be in the end
And I love you
Yes, I love you
Oh, how I love you
Oh, how I love you
Nights in white satin
Never reaching the end
Letters I've written
Never meaning to send
Beauty I'd always missed
With these eyes before
Just what the truth is
I can't say anymore
'Cause I love you
Yes, I love you
Oh, how I love you
Oh, how I love you
'Cause I love you
Yes, I love you
Oh, how I love you
Oh, how I love you

ETERNAL WOMAN
From the motion picture "She" (1983)
(no soundtrack)
Written by Justin Hayward
Eternal woman
You are proud
You are alone
Respect through fear
Are your demands
And I kneel before you now
For the last time I give myself to you
But where do you go to from here?
Is there a voice that you're longing to hear?
Is there a truth that finds you out?
Is there a fear?
Is there a doubt?
You know there's one thing you can't live without
Eternal love
Eternal woman
Do we greet another morning?
Our destiny is in your hands
But there's a fire that burns within your heart
And there's a hunger in your soul
That drives you on
That keeps you free
But where do you go to from here?
Is there a voice that you're longing to hear?
Is there a truth that finds you out?
Is there a fear?
Is there a doubt?
You know there's one thing you can't live without
Eternal love
Eternal love
Eternal love
Eternal love
Eternal love

IT WON'T BE EASY
From "Star Cops", British TV Show (1987)
Written by Justin Hayward
Like the ripple on the water
Sends a message to the shore
So I know forever after
I will miss you more and more
It won't be easy
It won't be easy without you
It won't be easy
Now, now, now
Shine a light into the darkness
Find an answer every day
How I wish that you were with me
Now I know that come what may
It won't be easy
It won't be easy without you
It won't be easy
Now, now, now
Reach across the stars
Let them know you're with me
Reach across the stars
Send out the word
Let them know what can be
Send out the word
I'll remember you
In the shelter of the moonlight
In the shadow of the sun
In the silence that's eternal
Days are passing one by one
It won't be easy
It won't be easy without you
It won't be easy
Now, now, now

SOMETHING EVIL, SOMETHING DANGEROUS
From the motion picture "The Howling IV" (1988)
(No soundtrack available)
Vocals and lyrics by Justin Hayward
Music by Barrie Guard
Here it comes
Another sleepless night
And I don't want to dream no more
I don't need to close my eyes to see my destiny
There's a darkness in my soul
I know what waits for me
Something evil
Something dangerous
On the borders of my consciousness
Something dangerous
The moon will rise
Into a cloudless sky
And the chill of the night comes down
And the truth I have to face is like a fire that burns
And I'm drawn towards the place
The point of no return
Something evil
Something dangerous
On the edges of my sanity

A British children's TV Show (1988)
Written by Justin Hayward
Every time you're skipping down the street
Think about the shoes upon your feet today
It's a magic world when your toes uncurl
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
What've you got between you and the ground
When you want to dance or simply run around
There's some friends down there to take you everywhere
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people

SKIMMING STONES
From the motion picture
"Tre Uomini e Una Gamba" (1997)
(Three Men and a Leg)
When the tears in your eyes start to show
Clear your mind
Spend some time skimming stones
When you're a long way from home
Just take a moment alone
And calm yourself and let your spirit free
Count how many times
See how far
Cast your loneliness out into the stars
One day we'll find ourselves free
And you will stand next to me
Skimming stones into eternity

An Italian comedy, this movie title is also a play on words. There is a person's leg involved in the plot, and the word "leg" is slang for a woman.

On The Road
From the French album "Gaia" (2003)
My child, he has gone
Down the road, the road of life
Gone to change the world
Through the desert, through the fire
My child, he has gone
Full of hope and wonder
Sleeplessly to roam
Through the rain and thunder
On the road
Will he fight to save
The world from growing colder?
Will he try to hold
The world upon his shoulder?
My child, he has gone
Down the road of life
Looking for a dream
Where once upon a time
My child, he has gone
Full of awe and full of life
Searching for a world where
Love is not denied
On the road
And the road goes on....
My child, he has gone
Down the road, the road of life
Gone to change the world
Through the desert, through the fire
Will he fight to save
The world from growing colder?
Will he try to hold
The world upon his shoulder?
